How the season engine reads the market
Crypto rarely moves on its own. Liquidity tends to travel along a macro chain: gold turns first, then stocks (S&P 500 and Nasdaq), then Bitcoin, then large-cap alts and finally small caps. A rising US dollar (DXY) and climbing yields drain that liquidity; a weak dollar with rising gold refills it. The engine scores each of the four seasons as a weighted checklist of these conditions, so you can see why the verdict is what it is — not just a number.
Inside crypto, Bitcoin dominance and the ETH/BTC ratio decide whether BTC or alts lead. When dominance falls while Bitcoin holds its trend and ETH/BTC turns up, rotation into altcoins usually follows — the altcoin season index then confirms it once most top alts beat BTC over 90 days.
Finally, breadth — the share of liquid coins in a daily uptrend — and the 4-hour Bitcoin trend switch the CTP regime on or off. Every weight and threshold is published on the methodology page.
