How to use the two scores
They answer different questions. The Z-score asks whether the balance sheet could break; the F-score asks whether the business got better over the last year. Piotroski found that cheap stocks with high F-scores beat cheap stocks with low ones; neither score is a buy signal on its own. Each stock's page shows its nine F-score checks and the five parts of its Z-score. Banks, insurers and payment networks get no Z-score. Filter by both on the stock screener. Not financial advice.
